Swimmers make a big splash in Lamlash

Mary’s determination sees her lift Ali Bodie plate

The 15th Lamlash Splash took place on a beautiful sunny day with perfect sea conditions last Saturday.

Mary Bowers and son Reuben with the Ali Bodie Memorial Plate which was presented by Lamlash Heather Queen Jessica Reid.

A big crowd turned out to watch the 39 swimmers, including 16 locals, who took part in the event which raised more than £1,000 for the Arran junior sailing club. The local swimmers were Mary Bowers, Wayne Dale, Greg Hamill, Ann Hart, Paul Hewie, Chris Hogge, Carole Johnson, Zabdi Keen, Georgina Maclean, Mike Mellor, Eric Milton, Heather Raeside, Glen Sloss, Barry Smith, Gerard Tattersfield and Jo Totty. The local swimmers all completed the swim and many of them who had attended open-water training sessions in Brodick and Lamlash improved on their times from previous years.
