Emergency services on full alert after mine discovered

Island emergency services were put on full explosives alert last weekend after the alarm was raised over a sus pected naval mine close to a busy camp-site.

Police, coastguards and the local lifeboat crew raced to the scene at North Sannox.

But the all-clear was sounded when experts confirmed the object was a dummy device, which had probably been used during the recent Joint Warrior exercise, featuring warships from several NATO countries.
