The October meeting of Corrie and Sannox SWI was held at the Isle of Arran Distillery in Lochranza on Thursday October 13.
History
A warm welcome and an excellent talk from Billy Paton, including a dram of 14-year-old malt, or a ‘driver’s dram’ for later, were followed by a seat in the cottage to view a video of the history of whisky distilling in general and of the distillery in particular. What an asset it is to the village and to the island.
A second tasting, this time of the famed and very morish Arran Gold was enjoyed by all, even the drivers. Afternoon tea, scones, chocolate coconut cake, lammingtons and millionaire’s shortbread got full marks from the rural ladies.
Vicki’s vote of thanks expressed the feelings of all as we repaired to the shop for early Christmas gifts.
