An Ayrshire-based writing award group is looking for Arran writers to submit a fictional story based on the theme of ‘The times they are a-changing’ to be in line to win a cash prise of £200.
Robin Whyte, who sadly died in 2015, was a much respected Irvine lawyer and a talented creative writer of poetry, lyrics and prose, as well as an erudite and witty after-dinner speaker, not least as a past-president of the prestigious Irvine Burns Club.
As an accolade to Robin’s creativity, an appropriate trophy was sponsored by friends from the United States and locally commissioned, along with a generous annual cash prize of £200 for a fictional piece of creative writing of 1,000 to 2,000 words.
There was an encouraging response to last year’s competition and the topic chosen for this year’s award is a very current theme given Bob Dylan’s recent Nobel Prize for literature and one that hopefully offers scope for a variety of interpretation.
Entries are invited from local writers, Ayrshire-based or -born, amateur or professional, of 16 years of age and over.
