Southend 2 Brodick 5
Brodick maintained the 100 per cent win rate at Sandbraes on Monday night as they made it eight wins out of eight in the league to be crowned champions for the third year in a row.
It looked like the champions had scored early on only for Archie McNicol’s effort to be ruled offside. The home team took first blood with a powerful strike from Donny Park beyond Gregor Adamson in the Brodick goal. The lead was short-lived though as Southend made a poor clearance from a Brodick free-kick. John Drummond was first to react and volleyed the ball past the unsighted Fraser Gilbert.
In the second half, Brodick upped their game as Southend heads went down. Iain Keen floated a ball in which Toby Wingham got on the end of to get his 16th goal of the season. Archie McNicol’s pace was too much for the Southend defence as he added another two goals to his account, looking almost certain to win yet another Arran golden boot. Keeno also got in on the scoring for the blues while Southend got a consolation goal through Craig Dewar.

Proud winners, Brodick displays the Arran Dairies League Trophy.
