A family history, Waterloo to the Great War

Their own Angela Cassels was the speaker at the September meeting of the Arran Antiquarians, writes Norma Davidson.

More than 40 members heard her account of research she has done into the war records of members of her family and Jim’s. They then made the pilgrimage to Belgium to see the locations which had previously just been names on a map.

Angela’s research made use of family hearsay, local graveyards, local historical sources and service records, not to forget the ever-useful census records.
