Arthritis Digest Magazine 2018 Issue 2 Back Issue

English

Only €3,49
Research published in recent years highlights the
importance of early diagnosis of inflammatory forms of
arthritis, and this is particularly evident in the current issue.
Writer and actress Julia Chayko was devastated when she was
told she had rheumatoid arthritis at 38 years old, but she is
one of the “lucky” ones (p15) as her diagnosis was made
shortly after the onset of her symptoms. Less lucky was Ivan
Charleton who was a teenager when he first experienced
symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis, but wasn’t diagnosed for
nearly a decade (p17).
Many people with arthritis and fibromyalgia try
complementary therapies alongside their current treatment
regimes, and aromatherapy is one such option. There is some
positive scientific evidence in its favour and plenty of
interesting information on page 8.
As well as our round-up of the latest research in the arthritis
arena throughout the issue, Katherine Pyne from
Designed2Enable looks at key factors to consider when buying
a rollator (p19). And if you fancy a short break, turn to the end of the issue for six fabulous aromatherapy retreats.
