HOLMES’ INDOOR RECORD IS NEXT ON MUIR’S CHECKLIST

LAURA MUIR will have another of Dame Kelly Holmes’ British records in her sights when she runs the 1000m at the Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix.

Holmes, who saw her 1500m record go in July this year to Muir at the Anniversary Games, set the national record of 2:32.96 in Birmingham 13 years ago, but Muir confirmed that the double Olympic champion’s indoor best will be her main target on February 18, while also throwing up the possibility of breaking Maria Mutola’s world record of 2:30.94 from 1999.
