HAVING won the trial race last weekend in a big PB for the 110m hurdles of 13.48, Matt Treston has his sights set on the IAAF World Under-20 Championships in Bydgoszcz this summer.
The 17-year-old won the England under-18 110m hurdles race at the England Athletics Under-20 Championships last year, but missed out on qualifying for the World Youth Championships. So he was determined to set the record straight this year. “Winning the under-18 110m hurdles wasn’t the same as an official national championships, as we didn’t receive medals,” he says.
Therefore, the Reading AC athlete was motivated to get on to the podium this year, which he did by beating James Weaver into the runner-up position, clocking inside the qualifying time for Poland.
