What drew you to writing fiction for young adults?

In my previous life, I used to be a primary school teacher, and when the kids were all reading Twilight and The Hunger Games I started reading them too, and I realised that young adult fiction can be a lot cleverer than adult fiction because they aren’t limited to a genre like crime or romance. They have everything, and there are no constraints.
