Back in 1985, Andy Bell, a shy, gay singer from Peterborough, responded to an ad in a magazine looking for a vocalist to help form a new musical project. Vince Clarke, who just happened to be one of Andy’s heroes, had been a founding member of Depeche Mode and had also had success as one half of the duo Yazoo. But when Andy and Vince hit it off and formed Erasure, they went on to rule the synth pop sound scape of the Eighties and Nineties.
