The January 2018 issue of Australian Railway History presents Part 1 of Peter Cokley’s article on the history of the Salisbury freight terminal in Brisbane, which served as a major facility for containers between 1964 and 1994. The facilities were gradually expanded over the years to cope with the increased use of containers for freight transport.
Frank Johnson offers Part 1 of his account of his posting as the Division Engineer for the Narrabri Region from November 1970. A major task was to restore track following severe flooding across the region requiring the track gangs to make a herculean effort to restore railway operations.
Don Estell documents to use of Silver City Comet trains on passenger services to Newcastle and Canberra, together with special trains conveying passengers to greyhound races in the Newcastle, Central Coast and Illawarra regions.

Highly recommended Ozzie Railway History Mag

Anyone interested in Australian Railway history, this is a well produced, and high quality mag. My great grandfather helped built many of these railways in late 19C. Reviewed 22 November 2018
