Autism Warrior - Inspired by Life

A playwright with autism shares insights and accomplishments to provide others hope.

When 28-year-old Matteo Esposito felt anger and pain caused by someone else’s “ignorant and careless behavior,” he didn’t harbor the feelings. Instead, he used writing as a “creative and therapeutic release.”

How it all began

Matteo, who has autism, wrote a play entitled “Sorting It Out,” based on a true story about an incident that occurred on a local transit bus. He describes the work as “an important and universal tale of what can happen in our world when neurotypical treats the neurodiverse ignorantly.”

He explains, “The work I do is entertainment-based using the experiences of others and myself as inspiration, combined with elements of my own life story. My plays create unique experiences for the audience or viewer who’s watching it.”
