The Pod is so much more than just your average café – serving up nourishing vegan food, while also being part of Coventry City Council, and home to an entire team who care about people and the planet. Alongside the regular workings of the café, The Pod also offers services to help improve mental health and they also run social activism programmes that aim to tackle food poverty. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, ingredients for the café’s plant-based menu are sourced primarily from local growers, traders and The Pod’s very own allotment, so you can be sure of where your meal has come from field to fork. The café team tell us more.
We specialise in freshly cooked plant-based food, where chefs use their expertise and training to produce dishes that truly exceed the sum of their parts. Taking inspiration and flavours from all over the world, all produce is seasonal, locally grown and organic where possible – sourced either from our own allotment or Coventry indoor market. Recently, we had a big potato harvest from the allotment, and through The Pod team’s creativity and imagination, a fantastic selection of dishes were created that really celebrated the humble potato-including homemade gnocchi, and a delicious potato risotto. Our aim is to provide wholesome, nourishing food with authentic flavours at affordable prices. On the menu is a choice of usually three dishes, all made from scratch, including any bread or cake we serve. The menu changes every two to three weeks and reflects the changing seasons and what we have growing.
