We love Mondays

Most women dread coming on their period. But one brand that is taking the hassle – and waste – out of your menstruation cycle is Mondays, a Zurichbased, plastic-free period product subscription service. Instead of being caught out next time Mother Nature unexpectantly pops up and having to dash the nearest shop to stock up on supplies that are usually coated in or comprised of plastic, Mondays sends you organic products through the post each month. Set to your cycle days and tastes – whether you use tampons or pads – each box contains 25 products of your choice. We caught up with Elisabeth, co-founder of the brand, to find out more.

Nancy and Elizabeth

My co-founder, Nancy, was always unprepared for her period and she made things worse for herself when she found out that many of the products she was using were not made of cotton, but made from and also largely packaged in plastic. In many areas of her life she tried to move away from plastic and attempted to live more environmentally-friendly and use more ecological products, but this was something quite difficult and periods added to the hassle. Her husband had a shaving subscription and suggested that perhaps that would be the perfect solution – she’d always be prepared for her period and have planet-friendly products for it, too. We saw this gap in the market and we wanted to help the modern woman save time in her busy life, but also to shop responsibly. We’re also the first organic cotton period subscription service to be 100 per cent plasticfree, from packaging to product.
