Proudly owning the title of Aberdeen’s first vegan café is Bonobo Tribe. Starting from humble beginnings as a small plant-based tearoom held on Saturdays, and also running as a pop-up in the Aberdeen Wellbeing Centre, all the takings from the café were put back into the business, with nobody taking a wage for their work, and instead volunteers ran the eatery. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, which saw them surpass their £12,000 goal, the venture grew to become Bonobo Tribe, which has now been running for two years. With an abundance of items on the menu including breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake, director, Jo Mitchell, tells us all about it.
