Bitch Magazine  |  Broke

Far too many people feel broken—as if there is no light at the end of a long, dark, and fear-inducing tunnel. In fact, brokenness is a normal feeling as schools remain underfunded, an illness can send a family into bankruptcy, and churches prey on the very parishioners they should be protecting. So, amid seemingly uncontrollable chaos, this issue asks a simple question: Is it possible to repair broken systems and, in the process, repair ourselves?

Bitch Media’s mission is to provide and encourage an engaged, thoughtful feminist response to mainstream media and popular culture. Bitch Media is in print with Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture, online at bitchmedia.org, on the air with our podcasts, Popaganda and Backtalk, and on campuses around the world via Bitch on Campus. We offer writing fellowships and internships on a quarterly basis, and we also house a community lending library at our HQ in Portland, Oregon.

Bitch seeks to be a fresh, revitalizing voice in contemporary feminism, one that welcomes complex arguments and refuses to ignore the contradictory and often uncomfortable realities of life in an unequivocally gendered world. We have a diverse audience, which keeps the dialogue and the movement we’re a part of dynamic and strong. We are also uniquely situated to draw in young readers who are at a critical moment in their lives—a moment when they are discovering feminism and activism, finding answers to who they are, and questioning the definitions of gender, sexuality, power and agency prescribed by the mainstream media. Bitch not only plays a role in exploring these topics, it also provides a toolkit for engaging in analysis that promotes activism and impels social change. Bitch Media has a broad reach, with a community that has grown to over 6 million readers around the globe.

Great feminist magazine Reviewed Saturday, June 3, 2017
Bitch is a great feminist magazine from the US. We don't really have anything like this in the UK and postage can be pricey, so it's handy to be able to get a digital subscription.
