Black+White Photography  |  June 2010
Over the past couple of months, while our new flat is being renovated, we have put our furniture in store and are staying in a friend’s flat. As I packed things up I realised that I was going to have to be pretty ruthless about what I chose to keep – strictly things I couldn’t bear to be parted with. I have an external hard drive for my digital files but I have quite a few images that have been printed and framed (both my own and other photographers) and I decided that while I was happy to risk my furniture to the vagaries of self-storage, I wasn’t prepared to lose sight of these photographs. So, not having room where we are staying, I piled them all into the office. I half expected to have everyone grumbling (justifiably) about me taking over every available space in the room (they are perched on piles of books, on desks and filing cabinets, and take up several wall spaces). But, to my delight, people seem to be enjoying them. I don’t know whether this has something to do with my good taste in photography, or whether I just have generous-hearted colleagues…I suspect the latter.
