SAMUEL ANTWI dominated game Siar Ozgul and took a clear 10-round verdict at York Hall. Referee Lee Cook’s 98-93 scoreline was a fair reflection of Antwi’s superiority. But what should have been a defence of the Southern Area welterweight title he won by beating Jez Smith here in February was scuppered when the champion came in more than a pound overweight. Antwi’s belt was forfeited, and the bout went on for the vacant title, with only Ozgul able to claim it.
Ozgul, a Turk based in Hackney, looked altogether smaller, and tended to fall short, while Antwi (Stockwell) pressed forward and landed with both hands. Some needle crept in, and Mr Cook spoke to both in the third. Ozgul was warned more than once for low blows, and for a kidney punch in the seventh.
