THE COUNTRY’S top prospects will be revealed this month when the National Development Championship reaches its climax.
The winners of this weekend’s quarter-finals go through to the finals weekend at Kettering Sports Village. The national Junior, Youth and Senior champions will be crowned on Sunday, October 19.
The Western Counties finals were held at the University of Bath Sports Village. Roman Boxing were the host club and the home crowd were disappointed after Max Barnes was beaten on a desperately tight 3-2 split by Tylar Quintal (Amalgamated) in the final at 63.5kgs.
At 75kgs, T-Jay Ralph (Blue Flames) was a bit sharper than Keegan Griffiths (Taunton) and impressed in a 3-2 split decision, and Callum Nancholas (Falmouth and Penryn) edged out Boulawatife Akinlade (Arena) 4-1.
