We have just purchased our dream plot after two years of research. In that time we have visited around 100 sites, and I wanted to share our search method. After finding land for sale, we first check Google street view, then the satellite aspect. Next we look on the local authority website for mapping and planning permissions. If we still think the site may be appropriate, we add it to our list to visit. Price is an obvious indicator, but can often be an unreliable one, as cheap plots are sometimes good and expensive land can turn out to be unsuitable.
