PROJECT OF THE MONTH

Denwell Cottage

The Jaffrey family wanted a high quality, energy-efficient house that could be built quickly, so opted for a timber frame home by Scot-frame. This large contemporary dwelling, which has been named Denwell Cottage, is the result. The property features four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a cinema and bar room, plus a striking galleried entrance hall with a modern oak staircase featuring glass balustrading. The open-plan ground floor area is flooded with light thanks to the the full-height glazed doors, which open out onto an expansive decked area.

Timber cladding, crisp white render, a slate roof covering and dark grey NorDan window frames were used for the external finishes. The ample glazing takes advantage of spectacular views to the nearby hills of Dunnydeer and Bennachie and the 2.7m high ceilings and 6m double-height sections give a feeling of space.
