THE PARTNER of jailed Campbeltown ex-paratrooper Billy Irving will hand a 350,000 signature petition to the prime minister on July 7.
Yvonne MacHugh, the mother of Billy’s son William, who has campaigned tirelessly for Billy’s release from an Indian jail, announced the decision to online supporters on Monday.
Billy and five other British nationals, dubbed the ‘Chennai Six’ manning the antipirate ship MV Seaman Guard Ohio, allegedly strayed into Indian territorial waters and were arrested in 2013. They have been held in India ever since and in January were sentenced to five years with hard labour in an Indian prison.
