An Islay man who head-butted a police officer will be sentenced at Campbeltown Sheriff Court’s July sitting. Scott Kevin McGurn, aged 24, of 11 Bayview, Port Ellen, appeared from custody on Monday in Campbeltown Sheriff Court.
He pleaded guilty to assaulting a police constable by lunging towards him and striking him on the head with his own head, in the car park of Islay Hospital, Bowmore, last Saturday.
He also pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified from holding or obtaining a licence and while over the drink drive limit on one of the island’s two principal roads, the A846, at its junction with Antrim View, Port Ellen, at 11.15pm on Friday June 22. The proportion of alcohol in his breath was 84 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath, more than three-and-a-half times the 22 microgramme limit.
