Canadian Yachting  |  October 2020
We all need a dream!
The tradition at Canadian Yachting magazine is that the October issue is our Waypoints Winter Cruising special, but the global pandemic has shut down many destinations. Also, we understand that at this point, many of our readers may be reluctant to travel until the conditions are less risky.
For many people, the white sand, brilliant sun and blue waters of the Caribbean are the image of paradise that we drift away to in our pensive moments though, so in the October 2020 issue, we bring you Part One of their comprehensive Two-part destination feature on the Bahamas by Award-winning filmmakers and sailing authors, Paul and Sheryl Shard, hosts of the internationally syndicated sailing adventure TV series, “Distant Shores”. Enjoy Bahamas – There and Back Again.
Bahamas is again open to Canadians and when the time to sail or charter down south comes again, Bahamas should be on your list.
Staying a lot closer to home, author Marianne Scott takes us to Chemainus, B.C. to learn about “The Little Town That Could”. As logging and other enterprises wound down, the residents and merchants in Chemainus, B.C. banded together and created the Festival of Murals Association. See what they did to transform this delightful cruising destination into a vibrant “art tourism” attraction.
Also, in our October issue, Andrew McDonald gets detailed and thorough with his feature on Winterizing. It takes modern methods to winterize modern boats. Maybe you are a DIY fan or maybe you just want to better understand what the marina goes through to put your baby to bed for the winter.
Also in the October Canadian Yachting, we bring you a review on the handsome new Beneteau Antares 11 outboard cruiser as well as profiles on four new Jeanneau power boats and Katherine Stone takes the helm of a freshly launched Hanse 418. All this and more in the October 2020 Canadian Yachting magazine!
