FamilyGamerTV’s Andy Robertson shares some of his favourite family games to play
VIDEO GAMES have evolved significantly, especially over the last 10 years or so. The Wii transformed the way in which consoles were assimilated into our daily lives and since then there have been a number of games that have taken off. But it’s not just the Wii that proliferated video games, but also the app stores. Games that were forgotten were all of sudden being brought back to life. Games like SimCity, Command&Conquer and even emulators of old classics such as Sonic the Hedgehog and other platforms. Not forgetting, of course, more traditional games like Yahtzee, Monopoly and a variety of card games which work perfectly on that platform.
It wasn’t just the old school games, however, that were making a comeback; a whole new style and type of gaming was emerging. New takes on Real Time Strategy games were being developed and emerging. The Free To Play model too was on a rise and starting to change the way in which people searched for apps and determined which to download. We started seeing more party games and online games becoming connected and more head-to-head battles with other players from around the world too were becoming popular.
