Global Covenant of Mayors leadership team announced

INTERNATIONAL

Nine leading mayors, representing cities around the world, have been appointed to the board of the newly created Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy. The new organisation was created after the Compact of Mayors and Covenant of Mayors merged in June last year. The new board board will be co-chaired by Michael Bloomberg, the United Nations Secretary General Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change and Maroš Šefčovič, Vice President of the European Commission. Former Executive Secretary the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Christiana Figueres, will as serve Vice-Chair of the board, while current UNFCCC Executive Secretary, Patricia Espinosa, will join the board as an observer and advisor.
