XENOMANIA
Formerly Xenomania’s in-house drummer, Florrie Arnold graduated to writing singles for The Saturdays and Girls Aloud. But, like an early Raye, her major label deal with Sony failed and she quit music. Back nine years on, Florrie’s best – generally the uptempo tunes – are as dramatic as her backstory. Kissing In The Cold is worthy of Annie, which isn’t to be said lightly. But the album’s second half dissolves into anonymous ballads, an anodyne mood only interrupted by a new take on 2011 single I Took A Little Something. At least there are hints of imperial-era Xenomania here.
