Bowie’s vinyl success
David Bowie remains this century’s biggest artist on vinyl. The late legend’s ‘lost album’, Toy (originally recorded in 2000), was released physically in January taking his accumulative sales on vinyl since the year 2000 to 582,704, beating nearest rivals The Beatles who scored 535,596 during the same period. Toy reached the Top 5 on the UK Albums Chart and was released as part of the ‘Bowie 75’ celebrations, which included a series of remixed LPs in 360 Reality audio by Tony Visconti as well as the 50th anniversary edition of Hunky Dory. More reissue projects are expected later in the year.
