TINA TURNER
FOREIGN AFFAIR DELUXE EDITION
WARNER
★★★
It’s hard to believe an album which included The Best – originally sung, fact fans, by Bonnie Tyler – wasn’t a massive hit globally, but though it earned her first British No.1 solo LP, in North America Foreign Affair was the worst performing of Tina Turner’s first three postcomeback LPs. In retrospect, they may have had a point: next to Private Dancer’s relative subtlety, it felt like being bludgeoned over the head.
