Classic Truck  |  Mains Man's Mission NEW
We spent an interesting day on the road with Mark Perry in his classic Volvo FM ‘Honeypot’ liquid waste tanker. Mark spotted his FM chassis under a hedge, bought it and has turned it into a well-spec’d tanker (page 14). Our Model Profile this month shines the spotlight on Iveco’s Turbo range – and in particular, the TurboStar – which put the Italian truck manufacturer firmly on the map
(page 20). Starting on page 28, we join the Scottish Gang Warily Road Run. Now in its fifth year, it celebrates the memory of haulage legend Peter Drummond, while on page 36 we carry a report of the Wessex Truck Show, an event put together by a group of friends keen to see a major truck show take place in the area following the relocation of the Truckfest South West show. There’s more stunning images from Peter Davies’ collection of trucks hard at work in the 1990s on page 38, and our centre spread features a fabulous Volvo FH low-ride in the livery of Redburn Transfer (page 42). Dave Bowers is a globetrotting journalist, and he’s sent us a feature on trucks he spotted while he was in Istanbul – a city where East meets West, bisected by the mighty Bosporus Strait (page 44). A good number of classics are used in Turkey, some built within the country, while others are old Brits sent there once their western owners have finished with them. Sometimes they are still in the livery of the British companies they were originally owned by, which is quite a sight! Author and truck enthusiast Wobbe Reitsma who wrote the book Foden Special Vehicles we reviewed in the Autumn 2012 edition of Classic Truck has sent us some pictures of old Brit working classics he
spotted in Cyprus back in 2006. They may even still be there now, as the Cypriots are known for keeping their trucks far longer than many (page 52).
