IN the past, I have occasionally opined that it’s a bit daft for editors to refer to the contents in magazines in the comment section. The point being that it’s a fair assumption readers will actually look at the features, so why go on about them? Merely an opinion, but a self-imposed rule
I try not to flout. However, they say that rules are made to be broken, so that gives me licence to mention a new series which starts this month. Did you hear that? A new series. Not much new happens around these parts, so it’s worth going on about just a little. The series is called Back in the Day and each month, we will show a street scene, usually from around the fifties or sixties, featuring a classic or two. In some instances, we can identify the location, in others, we don’t have a clue. But that doesn’t matter because the whole idea is to wallow in nostalgia. To that end, the pictures are in black and white and it is no secret that I just love the medium of monochrome. CVP already has a regular B and W section each month, but I have no qualms about introducing another because, come on, nothing tells it quite the same. On that subject, please keep your old black-and-white photos coming. I think they are just great and, from feedback received, so do most of the readers. Feedback – ah, yes. You may recall that I decided to drop the idea of an eighties special because, to me, that decade didn’t give us too much in the way
of vehicular excitement. Well, I’ve been told off a few times for that and, as a result, an eighties special will be produced. Any stuff you’d like to see appear? Then get in touch. I broke the rules by making that decision, but rules are made to be broken. Hence the old saying, if at first you don’t succeed – cheat. Oh. Happy Christmas, by the way. I’m not late, that’s early for next year. Tootle-pip, you types,
