Sub-compact handguns, by virtue of their small size are handy when you need a highly concealable primary arm or a BUG (Back-Up Gun). Of course, not all sub-compacts are created equal, which is why we’ve compiled this list of models to consider in your quest for the perfect diminutive handgun. Remember, everyone has different needs and varying hand sizes and skills. Find the gun that suits your budget, your needs and your abilities.

01. SIG P365

The SIG Sauer P365 was an instant hit when it first hit the market. Not only is it a slim sub-compact chambered in 9mm, but it has greater capacity than most guns in its class. The P365 holds 10 rounds in its magazine and one round chambered, giving you 11 rounds total in a concealable package. It’s a semiauto with a stainless steel frame and Nitron finish. The barrel is carbon steel and measures 3.1 inches long. The P365 ships with XRAY3 Day/Night Sights, one 10-round flush-fit magazine, and one 10-round extended magazine. If you’re willing to add a bit to the gun’s overall height, there are also 12- and 15-round magazines available.

Web: MSRP: $599

02. Glock 43X

Glock’s G43X is part of the popular manufacturer’s Slimline series of guns. It’s chambered in 9mm, has a 10-round, plusone capacity and gives shooters the best of both worlds with a compact-size grip and subcompact slide. The G43X has a barrel length of 3.41 inches, an overall length of 6.50 inches and an empty weight of 16.40 ounces. If you’re after Glock reliability in a narrow, 9mm package, this gun is a stellar choice. This is an accurate handgun that’s a good size for concealed carry. I’ve carried mine in a CrossBreed Reckoning holster AIWB since the gun was released. If you’d like a slightly longer barrel, there’s the G48 which has a 4.17-inch barrel. Both the G43X and G48 are available in two-tone with silver slides or classic Glock blackon- black.
