A SLICE OF MY LIFE
EARLY INFLUENCES
I was always putting my fingers into mixing bowls when my mother was baking. My earliest cooking memories are of making fruitcakes and scones when I was about six. The kitchen was a place I loved to be.
GROWING ENTHUSIASM
When I was little I used to help Dad in the garden. He grew a lot of his own produce – the connection with what you grew and what you ate, and getting round the table with the family for a meal were a big part of our lives. I do it with my own children now.
