Craft creative bokeh
Shape your aperture to create mesmerising out-of-focus backdrops
Bokeh is a popular photographic technique that transforms light sources behind or around your subject into an artistic, out-of-focus blur.
To achieve pleasing bokeh in your images, an open aperture is key – this will reduce the depth of field and render any lights in the background as soft, coloured discs.
To maximise the bokeh effect, you should aim to place the subject closer to the camera, while the light sources remain some distance away in the background. This effect not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of an image but also adds depth and atmosphere.
