When looking at the impact of cuts in the UK, it’s all too easy to get lost in the multitude of faceless figures. So to understand how austerity affects communities, I wanted to speak to someone who’d truly felt them. That was when I got a call from Jane (not her real name), a lesbian living in a rural village in the Peak District. Formerly drug user and sex worker, she has also been living with HIV for 30 years.
