You may have heard over the past few months or so that radio recently got a lot smaller. After a change in Ofcom’s measures – which previously focused on local programming – radio stations were suddenly allowed to network their shows. This means one radio show with one radio team from London, rather than presenters placed all over the country presenting in their home towns and cities.
Now, this was inevitable. Business is business and I’m not sure anyone was surprised when it was announced. But plenty of us were incredibly sad. Radio, of course, is not the onlyfindustry to go through massive amounts of change in a short time, and as technological advancements increase, a displacement of people from their current jobs is bound to happen.
