In 2006, photographer McDermott took model friends up to the abandoned railroad tracks that would one day become New York City’s famous High Line Park to shoot a series of nudes. “At the time, what I sought was its sense of isolation, being alone, surrounded by nature in the middle of this metropolis,” he says. A decade later, the High Line is one of the most visited tourist destinations in NYC, bustling with people enjoying its perfectly manicured gardens. High Line Nudes captures a seemingly impossible, but beautiful moment in the history of the West Side Rail Yards.
