Episode 1 gets underway

Recording on next year’s series of Doctor Whois well and truly underway, with actress Pearl Mackie – who plays the Doctor’s new companion, Bill – shooting scenes for Episode 1 at Cathays Park in Cardiff, Wales.

In a video for the official Doctor Who YouTube account released on 23 June, Pearl commented, “Feeling very excited, very warm in all my kegs... we’ve had a good couple of days so far, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of today and getting on with it.” The video can be seen at tinyurl.com/Series10Filming

As she began her first day at work, Pearl was delighted to receive a bouquet of flowers from her predecessor, Jenna Coleman [Clara]. Pearl sent a tweet to Jenna: ‘Thank you, Jenna, what a beautifully thoughtful gift. From one companion to another.’
