Dolls House World  |  Issue 384
“We love getting lost in the magazine: the inspiration, the makes and cut-outs.. Enjoying it always feels like an adventure!”
That was the lovely message about DHW we received from Purdey Collier. Her nine-year-old daughter Bea has recently won first place in the 8-11 category at this year’s Perfection in Miniature Awards.
The popular PIMAs at the London Dollhouse Festival normally recognise excellence in adult makers, but this year the competition focused on younger talents. And what talents they were. You can see some of the amazing results inside this issue.
If you want to try and keep up with the younger generation we’ve got some great projects for you. You can take a simple doll’s house dresser from drab to fab, and discover how to give a second life to the bits and pieces in your mini stash with some fun garden ideas. We show you how to create mini leaves, make a charming stool and even light up your desk with a little lamp.
We also feature some inspiring houses and roomboxes, including the amazing room on the front cover. Savage Manor was created by those incredible UK house builders Susan Rogers and Kevin Mulvany for the KSB Miniatures Collection.
Incidentally, Kevin was a judge at this year’s PIMAs, chatting away to the many talented youngsters who had entered the prestigious competition. We can only hope some of them will turn out to be the gifted house builders of the future .
