THE VILLAIN
WITH VECNA, STRANGER THINGS FINALLYREVEALED ITS BIG, BIG BAD, AND HE DIDN’T DISAPPOINT. WE DELVE INTO THE MAKING OF A MANIAC
A CREEPY CHILDHOOD
Behind every great monster is a creepy kid. Perhaps one who shows an odd fascination with deadly spiders and an obsession with the concept of time. Young Henry Creel (Raphael Luce) is a still, sullen child when his family moves to Hawkins. Anywhere else, that might simply have been an awkward phase; the difference with Henry is that — perhaps thanks partly to his proximity to the Upside Down — he discovers unusual abilities, and learns to use those to manipulate and eventually torment the people around him. If only they’d had Game Boys in the 1950s, things might have been very different.
