Society volunteers regularly share their expertise at meetings, family history fairs and at the society’s research centre
Glamorgan Family History Society was formed in 1974 and now has six branches in Aberdare, Bridgend, Cardiff, Pontypridd, Merthyr and Swansea. The society is also a member of the Welsh Association of Family History Societies (AFHSW), which has a London branch. If your ancestors lived in Glamorgan then we have a vast array of resources to help you trace them.
With the industrialisation of centres like Merthyr, Swansea, Cardiff and the valleys from the mid-18th century onwards, individual families moved frequently from place to place in search of work. Coupled with the use of common surnames such as Jones, Davies and Williams, searching for your ancestor can be difficult.
