The birthplace of David Livingstone in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire
An exhibition is to be held to celebrate a town’s mining heritage after receiving a major thumbs-up from the local community.
Thanks to a public vote, the David Livingstone Trust in South Lanarkshire has won £2,471 from The Coalfields Regeneration Trust for the exhibition, which will celebrate Blantyre and its mining history as part of the £6.1 million Birthplace Project. Blantyre will soon be home to a new world-class visitor attraction on the grounds of the David Livingstone Centre, which preserves the birthplace and legacy of the legendary Scottish explorer, David Livingstone.
