It’s not just a myth that their bad credit can affect yours. If your heart’s set on that suburban semi it could hinder proceedings if they fail the bank’s checks, and you’ll be back to square one. Also, applying for too many things at once is not a good look in lenders’ eyes. Both agree to be open and honest about any debt and decide from there if you or they would rather run the mortgage gauntlet alone.
