The Vivienne

From packing out night clubs to stealing the crown in London; 2015 has been quite a busy year for The Vivienne. And now, as she sits pretty as RuPaul’s new cover girl, we talk Drag Race UK, being the first ever UK Ambassador and what we can all expect as we look towards season eight. The Vivienne…. shantay, you stay

When did you first join the drag world? I’d moved to Liverpool when I was 16 to become a makeup artist and I started on the club scene. One night, I said to the owner of the bar I was working in that the girls that night didn’t look great and he challenged me to beat them. My response? “WATCH ME!” And I did. [Laughs]

Are you a pageant kinda queen or are you music and live performance sorta girl? To be honest, I love doing all of it. When I was first starting, I went to work at Garlands in Liverpool and when you work there, they don’t really want the girly look as they want a club party monster freak. I really enjoyed that as it was a different look every week and I could be really creative. From there, I moved to a club called Superstar Boudoir that was more a showgirl kinda place. I got into the more polished look and realised that this could be the look for me. I wanted to stick to it so I just perfected that and that’s what you see today.
