Cover Girl!

Greetings Earthlings! Her name’s Alaska Thunderfuck – what’s yours? No, don’t answer that – there’s only one queen we’re interested in at this exact moment in time and that’s the lady from the planet Glamtron. And she’s landed to capture us all with her Anus… (That’s her debut album, Anus, just so we’re perfectly clear…)

You probably already know the drill. Justin Honard, aka Alaska Thunderfuck 5000, applied to be on RuPaul’s Drag Race several times (ie, every single year) before appearing on Season Five in 2013 and eventually being crowned runner up.

But after seven seasons – that’s a whole lotta queens – there’s something about Alaska that seems to resonate around the world. To put it simply, she’s the One Direction of Drag Race. She might not have won, but she’s gone on to be one of the most famous contestants ever.

There’s been sell-out shows globally, appearances in The Rocky Horror Show, a World of Wonder web series – Bro’Laska – in which she appears with her half-brother Cory Binney, and a stint as a model for American Apparel.

Shade caught up with Alaska on tour. Somewhere. She probably didn’t know where either.

Do you get to tour more since Drag

Race, or were you always such a girl on the go? Oh girl no! I wasn’t doing it before Drag Race, it’s just been a really great opportunity. Drag Race is amazing because it shows what you do to a lot of people. I’m glad that there’s so many people out there that like what we do.

I’m just really weird, I guess. I just like to inject that weirdness into everything I do
