Denny Tedesco has ensured his father’s legacy will live on, by directing and producing the acclaimed film, The Wrecking Crew. Throughout the movie, you can feel the love and admiration Denny has for his dad – but it’s also an important historical record, documenting a key time in modern music history – as well as telling the story of the real musicians behind the recordings. In an exclusive interview for The Guitar Magazine, Denny tells Bob Hewitt about life with a guitar legend…

What was it like growing up in the Tedesco household?

“As a kid, I didn’t know we were living with an ‘artiste’ – he’s still your father. And he was a hard-working dad – but instead of the hammer, saw or drill; his tools were a Telecaster, the acoustic, a Fender amp – and maybe a mandolin or banjo.

“I didn’t know any different, because I never saw my dad working at his craft. It was only in the 70s when I realised he was ‘different’ – when someone would say, ‘Hey – I saw your dad’s name on The Partridge Family album’. But even then I didn’t think about it that much”.
