MARSHALL CODE 100 COMBO

Digital modelling, USB output, an LCD screen and Bluetooth… nope, this is definitely not your standard 100- watt Marshall combo. RICHARD PURVIS gets CODE-cracking

You could understand Marshall being a little mi ed. For years, the digital modelling brigade have been o ering cut-price emulations of its greatest creations with euphemistic names such as ‘British rock head’, ‘Plexi crunch’ and ‘Large black amp with gold control panel whose name rhymes with partial’. The tech is getting better all the time, but you can’t stop the tide of progress, so in the end there’s only one thing that you can really do: emulate yourself.

There’s more to the CODE series than digital replicas of classic Marshalls, however. As well as letting you scroll through the greatest hits of the company’s history (with a few rivals also represented), they also include other 21st century touches, such as direct recording with cab simulation via USB, and Bluetooth control using a smartphone app.
