THE ECO BEAUTY EDIT
Ageneral desire for all things natural and an increasingly holistic approach to health (yoga, meditation, mindfulness have all gone mainstream) have changed the way we think about beauty, too. Recent years have seen a massive rise in the natural and organic skincare market (organic is the fastest growing sector of the global personal care industry) and handmade and eco-friendly formulations are all the rage. It’s estimated the natural cosmetics market hit £22 billion last year and it’s predicted to have an annual growth rate of 10% until 2019.
‘Plenty of brands now offer affordable, all-natural, personal care products and make-up, from shampoo to eyeliner,’ says Graeme Hume, founder and MD of Pravera, a leading UK distributor of natural and organic beauty brands. ‘We’re seeing more niche products coming to market, from vegan skincare ranges for tattooed skin to all-natural anti-cellulite products.’
