Researchers found those who post foodie snaps on Instagram are encouraged to stay more disciplined with what they eat, thanks to support from other users. ‘Used in the right way, social media can be positive for weight loss. An online network is a modern, convenient equivalent to the weekly support group meetings that have helped people to slim down in the past,’ says Zoë Stirling, nutritional therapist and co-founder of Squirrel cafe (wearesquirrel.com).
